Buy-back and Trade Buying Hours Types Books We Buy Book Donations DirectionsWhat is buy-back and trade?
As a used bookstore we rely on people like you to bring in books for the majority of our store inventory. During our buy-back and trade hours, we will look through books that you may no longer want and decide if we could use them in the store. Of what we can use, we will offer a trade price that you may use as credit for books in store. The trade can be used the same day, or can be converted to a card that you can use at either of our stores-- and never expire! We also offer a cash price, though it will be slightly less then the value of the trade.
What are your buy-back and trade hours?
In the San Jose store:
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. We do not buy back or trade on Sunday.
In the Campbell store:
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. We do not buy back Sunday or Monday.
What kind of books are you looking for?
This is a hard question to answer, since what is popular and what will sell varies day to day. We look for books in good condition, books on obscure topics, and books by popular authors in fiction, mystery, sci-fi/fantasy, history, business, and many others.
What we DO NOT take are:
- Textbooks
- Computer Books
- Encyclopedia sets
- Magazines
- Readers Digest condensed books
- Hardback popular fiction - Anything by very popular authors, especially in Romance and Mysteries (Lee Child, James Patterson, etc.), we DO NOT take in hardcover after they have come out in paperback. We do take hardcover books in other genres, including fiction, history, philosophy, business, etc., but since we sell them for very little, you may not get as much out of them in cash or trade as you'd expect.
Otherwise-- bring in your books during our trading hours and see what's what!
Do you take donations?
We do not take donations, as both our stores have to deal with very limited space, we have to be selective about our books. If you are looking to get rid of your books instead of selling/trading them, we suggest you go to a number of donation acceptors in the area. These include your local library, salvation army, goodwill, teen help centers, etc. Any one of these will take your box of books, and some will even give you a receipt to use on your taxes come end of the year!
Where are you located?
Our San Jose store is located on The Alameda, near Race Street. We are across the street from Greenlee's Bakery. The Campbell store is located on E. Campbell Ave. in lovely downtown Campbell, near 1st Street. Come visit us on Sundays when the year-round farmers market takes place.
